If you have a concern about skin cancer, Dr Wernham will be able to help you. He is a national expert in diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. He completed one of the UKs most competive Reconstructive and Mohs surgery fellowships and has since developed one of the highest reputations nationally in the field of skin cancer surgery. 

There are many different treatments for skin cancer including creams, surgery and radiotherapy. Surgery is the gold standard treatment and is usually advised where possible. 

Types of skin cancer commonly operated on by Dr Wernham include basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. 

Dr Wernham is a core member of a multi-disciplinary team in the NHS with agreement to discuss your case once reported which is in keeping with national guidelines. This ensures the best outcomes and advice if any further treatment is needed.  All suspected skin cancers will be sent for analysis under the microscope after surgical removal. Dr Wernham will be able to explain this process in more detail with you in clinic.

You will firstly need an initial consultation (see booking information) to review the lesion, perform a skin check and go through the procedure required and consent

Excisions of skin cancer can range from £1100 to £1500 depending on the time and reconstruction required. Dr Wernham will be able to advise and provide an exact quote following assessment at the initial consultation. This fee includes the histology (sending the sample removed for analysis and confirmation of margins and diagnosis) and also if required, stitch removal / single wound assessment and receiving the results by letter where appropriate.
